Speaking to the Democratic National Convention by video from New York, Hillary Clinton thanked delegates for nominating her, as the sound of shattering glass rang out in the convention hall to mark her historic victory.

“I can’t believe we just put the biggest crack in that glass ceiling yet,” Clinton declared, just hours after becoming the first woman to be nominated for President by either major party.

“What an incredible honor that you have given me,” Clinton said via video, her first appearance in two days of this convention, as she framed her success for young women of today.

“If there are any little girls out there who stayed up late to watch, let me just say, I may become the first woman President, but one of you is next,” Clinton said to cheers.

The former Senator and Secretary of State spoke a few minutes after her husband – the ex-President – captivated his audience with a lengthy speech that dwelled on their courtship, her jobs and their daughter, Chelsea.

Bill Clinton’s argument for months has been that his wife is a “change maker” – and he hammered that home again on Tuesday night.

“This woman has never been satisfied with the status quo on anything,” the former President said of Hillary.
